BRANTFORD — ·ï»Ë²ÊƱƽ̨’s Brantford campus will mark a historic milestone on June 3 when it celebrates its 10,000th graduate at spring convocation — a proud moment that reflects the deep and growing impact of its alumni community. 

Since welcoming its first class of just 39 students in 1999, ·ï»Ë²ÊƱƽ̨’s Brantford campus has grown into a dynamic campus community with 26 undergraduate and graduate programs and a thriving alumni network. From local classrooms to multinational corporations, . 

“Convocation is a celebration of our students’ achievements and the beginning of their journey as ·ï»Ë²ÊƱƽ̨ alumni,” said ·ï»Ë²ÊƱƽ̨ President and Vice-Chancellor Deborah MacLatchy. “We are proud to welcome the 10,000th graduate from our Brantford campus into a community of alumni who are shaping a better world in countless ways.” 

The major milestone comes at a time of renewed investment in the Brantford campus and builds on momentum generated by 25th anniversary celebrations at the campus and the release of the Inspired Community, Real Impact report, which highlights ·ï»Ë²ÊƱƽ̨’s academic, social, cultural and economic impacts in the Brantford-Brant community. 

Central to the future of ·ï»Ë²ÊƱƽ̨’s Brantford campus is the continued redevelopment of One Market, a former downtown mall ·ï»Ë²ÊƱƽ̨ purchased in 2014. Now being transformed into a vibrant campus and community hub, One Market will feature modern, flexible spaces designed to foster learning, community and connection — supporting not only the campus community, but the Brantford community at large.  

As part of this vision, ·ï»Ë²ÊƱƽ̨ will launch the Brantford Campus Vibrancy Fund, which will support initiatives led by faculty and staff that enhance campus life and strengthen community engagement.  

“·ï»Ë²ÊƱƽ̨’s Brantford campus is a shining example of what can be achieved through strong university-community partnerships,” said Heidi Northwood, ·ï»Ë²ÊƱƽ̨ provost and vice-president: academic. “Together, with our 10,000 Brantford campus alumni and community partners, we’ve created opportunities in research, learning, work and service, shaping a bright future for ·ï»Ë²ÊƱƽ̨ and Brantford.”   

June 3 convocation ceremonies will be held at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. at the Sanderson Centre for the Performing Arts, 88 Dalhousie St., Brantford. At the 10 a.m. ceremony, ·ï»Ë²ÊƱƽ̨ will confer an Honorary Doctor of Laws degree on Tom Jenkins, chair of the board of OpenText and an Officer of the Order of Canada.
