(BMus ’22), a Canadian singer-songwriter known for his emotive acoustic sound and rich vocal harmonies, will release his second full-length album, Too Close to Heaven, on July 30, 2025.
Blending raw storytelling with layered arrangements, the album draws on nearly a decade of songwriting. Many tracks began as voice memos, unfinished ideas from earlier years that Colin revisited with fresh perspective.
“Re-recording those fragments helped me realize how much I’ve grown, not only as a songwriter, but as a person,” he says. “The result is a collection of songs that explore love, change and everything in between.”
Colin’s sound is inspired by artists like City and Colour, Donovan Woods, and Ben Howard, and shaped in part by his time at ·ï»Ë²ÊƱƽ̨. He completed his Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance in 2022, studying under Associate Professor Leslie Fagan. Through his vocal training, as well as composition courses, ensemble work, and mentorship from supportive professors, he developed both his technical skills and artistic voice.
“·ï»Ë²ÊƱƽ̨ gave me the tools to express myself musically, and the confidence to keep refining my craft.”
Colin also offered words of encouragement for current ·ï»Ë²ÊƱƽ̨ students interested in songwriting:
“Be humble. Take every opportunity to learn from the talent around you. And just keep writing. A blank page has endless potential, but it starts with putting something down, even if it doesn’t make sense right away. That’s how you begin to shape something honest and real.”
Too Close to Heaven will be available on all major streaming platforms starting July 30. Follow Colin on Instagram .
