Hiring: Summer Camp Support Staff Member

The ·ï»Ë²ÊƱƽ̨ Academy of Music & Arts is hiring a Summer Camp Support Staff Member. The Support Staff Member is responsible for supervising and ensuring safety of campers by providing support to the main instructor(s) of the summer camp. Applicants must have availability at all of the following times:

  • July 7-11 - 8:30am to 4:30pm
  • July 14-18 - 8:30am to 4:30pm
  • July 21-28 - 8:30am to 4:30pm
  • July 28-Aug 1 - 8:30am to 4:30pm
  • Aug 11-15 - 8:30am to 4:30pm

 

Job responsibilities:

  • Build positive relationships with campers, facilitate group dynamics, and address any behavioral issues or conflicts that may arise
  • Foster a fun and positive environment for campers
  • Help campers complete tasks/activities, transitions to recess/lunch
  • Assist in drop-off/pick-up times with families and parents
  • Communicate with parents regarding camper progress and address any concerns, jointly with the Instructor
  • Report to the Instructor and/or office staff if any issues arise
  • Assist in maintaining cleanliness and order of camp facilities and equipment


Required skills:

  • 16 years of age or older
  • Must have or be working towards their Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD)
  • Previous work with young children is required
  • Strong interpersonal skills:
    • Ability to build rapport with children, create a positive atmosphere, and effectively manage group dynamics.
  • Leadership qualities:
    • Confidence in leading activities, providing guidance, and making decisions in a group setting
  • Problem-solving skills:
    • React calmly to unexpected situations and address challenges with campers effectively
  • Physical ability:
    • Ability to participate in outdoor activities and keep pace with young children
  • Music or visual arts experience is considered an asset
  • Current First Aid/CPR Certification is considered an asset

 

The rate of pay is $20.00 per hour. Please note: this position will be paid out in two lump sums in mid-July and mid-August.
